This Move-a-Thon event is a fundraiser designed to combine fun exercise with raising awareness for those living with Metastatic Breast Cancer. Over the past year, I have learned that keeping my body moving is the best way to support my immune system as well as my mental health. I have enjoyed runs in the woods, cold swims in the ocean, playing at the park, walking on the beach and our family even tried caving this summer.  All these activities led to a mental sense of calm and a physical place of healing. 

October 13th is Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day so our Move-A-Thon event will take place in the week surrounding that day. I’d encourage you to try something new, pick an activity you love and do it more often, find friends to walk with… anything that gets you moving in a fun and encouraging way. 

For those in Powell River, our week will end with a Stretching Party at Willingdon Beach Park. Please join myself and Personal Trainer, Terri Cramb at 9am on Saturday October 16th for a time of stretching and a chance to win some prizes.  Please bring you own blanket or yoga mat.
