The UBC Learning Exchange creates a welcoming space in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside (DTES) where students and faculty connect with DTES residents and organizations to share knowledge, pursue common interests and learn from one another to bring about positive social change. Since its inception, the Learning Exchange has provided free, low-barrier, community-based programs and drop-in activities including English language learning, digital literacy, arts and cultural programs and support for community-driven research.

Now in its fifth year as a Giving Day success story, with a strong history of faculty and staff support, the Learning Exchange continues to demonstrate the power of connection. Each year, more than 2,500 residents access programs that build skills, confidence and community.
