Land and Food Systems
Support Indigenous food sovereignty by strengthening the Ininīwikistayikēwin Seed Library at UBC. Guided by the Cree teaching to “sow with spirit,” the Seed Library honours the relationships between people, plants and the land. Now growing at UBC through a partnership with the xʷc̓ic̓əsəm Garden, the initiative distributes Indigenous seed varieties and offers workshops that deepen land-based learning and cultural connection.
This project shares seed packages with Indigenous families and Nations. As interest and demand continue to grow across British Columbia, additional support will help expand distribution, respond to community requests and strengthen networks rooted in ancestral knowledge.
Your gift will help provide seeds, postage, materials and community programming so the Seed Library can reach more Indigenous households throughout the province and continue nurturing food security, cultural revitalization and community-led growing practices.
Make your Giving Day gift to the Ininīwikistayikēwin @ xʷc̓ic̓əsəm Seed Library today and help grow Indigenous food sovereignty in BC.
