Support Indigenous-led training and self-determined cultural heritage work through the Indigenous Internship Program at the Museum of Anthropology. Co-developed in 2020 by six Indigenous community partners, the program offers hands-on experience in museum practice, cultural heritage management and community-led stewardship for Indigenous participants from across British Columbia, Canada and the world.
Now in its sixth year, the program is transitioning from a pilot program with start-up funding into an ongoing component of MOA’s core operations. To date, more than 40 interns from 25 Nations have taken part, gaining skills that help them advance community initiatives, strengthen cultural stewardship and pursue new career or education pathways. Interns often foster meaningful personal connections to their communities through their work, from restoring family belongings to deepening relationships with language, archaeology and ancestral knowledge.
Your gift will directly support intern wages, accommodation, travel and community placements, ensuring Indigenous participants can access paid training and bring their learning back to their home communities.
Make your Giving Day gift to the Indigenous Internship Program at MOA today to help strengthen Indigenous leadership and capacity in cultural heritage management.
